The career in product design stems from an interest in art and design, objects and structures, and the curiosity in how they function. As a child my greatest joy was to create and disassemble artistic and functional pieces.
After graduating with a Masters of industrial design at the University of South Australia in 2012, I spent the past five years in Melbourne working for two well respected design companies.
Since beginning my career in 2013 I designed multiple furniture ranges for restaurants, cafe’s and bars in cities across Australia. The homeware products I designed at Country Road are sold in stores in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
I have a curiosity for materials and manufacturing processes. I love experimenting. I think it is important to play with materials to discover what is possible, and what isn’t.
In 2011, my Eggshell Bath concept was awarded the Student Reece Bathroom Innovation Award for its unconventional form, and innovative bathing experience it provides.
In 2013, my Peg Stool won the ‘Best Sustainable Design Award’ at the Australian International Furniture Fair. From this event, I established contact with an interested manufacturer and the stools are now in production. Later that year the stools were selected to be showcased at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York.
